Burglars Steal $300,000 in Jewelry from Derek Fisher’s Home

Burglars Steal $300,000 in Jewelry from Derek Fisher’s HomeOn January 31st, 2017, a burglar entered the home of Derek Fisher, a former Los Angeles Lakers player with 5 NBA Championship rings, and stole $300,000 worth of jewelry. Sometime between 7:30am and 10:30 am, the criminal broke in a stole the goods.

The burglar made off with his 2000, 2001, 2002, 2009 and 2010 NBA Championship rings, as well as other jewelry, and when they left it was clear to the former Laker player that his Los Angeles home had been burglarized. The police are canvassing the area looking for witnesses, but still have no suspects in mind.

This just furthers the proof that burglaries can happen to anyone at any time. Homes large and small can be broken into. It might seem hard to protect your home, but there are ways to protect your home from trespassers.

  1. Install High-Security Locks

  2. Adding security locks might seem like common sense, but many people do not have high-security locks. These types of locks have unique pin configurations and hardened cylinders so it becomes much more difficult for your lock to be picked and your home broken into.

  3. Set up a CCTV System

  4. Another way to keep your home safe is by setting up a camera system throughout the property. This not only allows you to get evidence and images if someone does break into your home, but the sight of cameras alone can deter a would be burglar from attempting to break in.

  5. Add Motion Sensor Lights Around Your Home

  6. Burglars like to make quick and easy entrances into a home. They creep through the shadows to enter unnoticed. Motion sensors are a great way to surprise a burglar and cause them to think about whether or not they want to proceed. They also serve as a nice warning system to alert you that something or someone is moving about outside.

  7. Trim Back Shrubs

  8. Remember what we said about burglars liking easy access to a house? Well another way they can gain that, is by maneuvering through the heavy landscaping that sprawls your property. If you have thick bushes, trees or shrubs surrounding your home, you may want to trim them back. Better yet, get some thorny bushes to deter burglars!
